Greeva Basti

People are spending more time at their desks, glued to them, without moving around much. As a result, problems with the spine, muscles, and skeletal tissues of the neck and shoulder develop in these individuals. Greeva Basti does a good job of resolving these issues.

Greeva means “neck,” and basti means to keep anything inside, usually a medicinal oil. It is essentially a hot oil therapy and an Ayurvedic neck care. Greeva Basti applies therapeutic oil or freshly made herbal decoction on the neck area.

An external palliative and rejuvenating treatment done locally at the cervical region. It reduces pain, stiffness and strengthens the neck and shoulder muscles.  The heated herbal oil allows absorption into muscles, ligaments, and tendons, relaxing the neck and curing any underlying issues, as well as relieving pain and stiffness. The therapy additionally de-stress the entire body.

Abhyanga

Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic therapy that involves massaging the entire body, from head to toe, using warm oil soaked with herbs that are appropriate for the patient’s particular Dosha. Herbs are frequently added to the oil beforehand to treat particular conditions. Sesame is traditionally the base oil, but Ayurveda professionals base the oil section on the Dosha type, thus herb oils like Ashwagandha oil, Mahanarayan oil, Bhringaraj oil, Brahmi oil, and Neem oil can be used. In some situations, almond oil or corn oil may also be used to cure the Kapha Dosha.

It is frequently followed with Svedana therapy or a hot bath. Abhyanga can be carried out by one or more therapists working together or by an individual. Depending on the season and the person’s out-of-balance constitution, different oils may be used (Vkrtti).
