The word Sthoulya is used to describe obesity.
Sthoulya can be controlled, but it's challenging. This is because starvation or extreme dieting cannot defeat tikshna agni bala(profound digestive activity) and santarpana, or surplus nutrition (calories), will lead to greater medodhatu vruddhi(formation of adipose or fat tissues). Furthermore, because they receive inadequate nourishment from the Saptadhatus, sthoulya people will already be low on energy. As a result, they may not be able to endure the extreme nutrition depletion caused by extreme dieting.
The Sthoulyahara do have a strong preference for lowering and managing triglycerides and LDL (low density lipids).
Understanding that low density lipids are to blame for the impression of heaviness and drooping appearance of body regions like the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and arms that have collected with adiposity is crucial.
When LDL levels start to drop, the subjective feeling of body weight is initially reduced, and as a result, one's body girth eventually decreases as well
